Gospel Generosity

Passage: Philippians 4:14–20
In Philippians 4:14-20, we will see that the Philippian church we have been learning from was a model of generosity in financially supporting the mission of the church. And though Paul is writing to a specific church specific things from long ago, Kent Hughes reminds us, “Holy Scripture always has a greater audience in view.”[1] So, when we read God’s word we are also the audience that God has in mind to speak to. He is speaking to us. What our text will teach us by example is that when we realize the generosity that God has shown toward us in the gospel, our response is one of generosity toward God and others.
