Lord willing, The Trails Church and Grace Baptist Fellowship are partnering together to form one congregation for the purpose of advancing the gospel in Collin County, Texas. The elders of both churches have agreed upon a plan for Grace to merge into The Trails and gift land and other assets to The Trails, and for The Trails to build upon the land. The members of Grace unanimously voted to approve this plan on Sunday, September 20, 2020. Through this merger, the Lord is answering the prayers of each church in different ways, and we are excited and expectant to see the Lord lead us into this new season.
Why are we merging?
Since planting just 2 years ago, The Trails Church has been steadily growing in number while actively looking for land to put down roots. Grace Baptist Fellowship has been a faithful congregation in Celina, but their membership has declined and they have been without a full-time pastor for the last couple of years. The members of Grace desire to see a legacy of gospel advancement, and a merger of our churches will allow us to combine our members, land, and resources to better reach our community with the good news of Jesus Christ.
What will our church be called and where will we be located?
Our church will remain The Trails Church and we are acquiring Grace Baptist Fellowship’s property located at 15062 FM 455, Celina, TX 75009. The property is 5.25 acres of land in the heart of Celina, strategically located where Celina Parkway and 455 intersect, just east of Dallas North Tollway, and north of Old Celina Park and the outer loop.
Where will we be meeting?
For now, we will continue to hold Sunday Worship Services in the Community Room of Prosper ISD Stadium until we are able to build a facility large enough to accommodate our large church gatherings.
Will we be able to use the existing building at Grace for other ministries?
Yes! Grace has already so graciously allowed us to use their existing building for Trails 56 on Sunday nights, Trails Students on Wednesday nights, Men’s Bible studies on Thursday nights, and Women’s Bible studies on Friday mornings. We are also able to hold equip classes and membership classes there. What a blessing!
When will we start building on the land?
Lord willing, we hope to begin moving dirt in 2021. We will be meeting with architects to determine the best plans for our current needs and future growth, and plan to build a facility with enough space to accommodate our growing congregation, Trails Kids, Trails Youth, and Discipleship Ministries.
Is there enough land for future growth?
The existing 5.25 acres is large enough to build a 40,000 sf facility (and, if building a second story, up to 70,000 sf) with ample parking. We are also actively pursuing a Right of First Refusal option contract from the adjacent properties which could potentially allow us to acquire 5 acres to the west and/or 18 acres to the east.
Will we have a Giving Campaign?
Yes! We will launch a giving campaign this fall 2020 in order to raise funds to build. Be praying about how the Lord will use our resources to further His kingdom work. In fact, you can even give now and select our Building Fund for your gift.
