Recently, many publishers have been producing children's book series featuring the same authors, illustrators, or both. These series provide a similar design, format, and approach to stories that can help parents know what to expect yet provide variety for kids! Here are three series that I love!
Tales that Tell the Truth
I love reading the Tales that Tell the Truth books to my kids! They are easy and fun to read, with colorful illustrations that feature the same style throughout the whole series. But most importantly, the content is excellent. In engaging and faithful ways, the authors help you reflect on important stories from the Bible and truths for Christian living. If I could, I would give every family a set of these books. They are, without a doubt, my favorite overall books to read with our kids.
- Best Place to Start: The Garden, Curtain, and the Cross
- My Favorite 3: God's Very Good Idea, The Storm That Stopped, The Prisoners, The Earthquake, and The Midnight Song
Good News for Little Hearts
The Good News for Little Hearts series is an indispensable tool for disicpling our kids in their emotions. Edited by counselors like David Powlison, Ed Welch, and Paul Tripp, it features various woodland creature families and their stories of trying to love Jesus and trust Him through "The Good Book." Each story uniquely addresses a specific struggle in the Christian life and models what it looks like to trust Christ and walk in repentance. I love these books because they help both parents and the kids if you read them well.
Each story features parents who attentively care for their children, and their responses model how to help our children engage their problems with the hope of the gospel. It seems silly, but these books have stirred my heart regularly as I've read them with my boys. They remind me of the truth I need to hear amid my impatience, fears, and anxieties. They also model what it looks like to point my kids to the sufficiency of Christ. I'm confident these books will transform how you help your kids and help you trust Christ more in your own hardships!

- 3 You Should Consider: Zoe's Hiding Place, Gus Loses His Grip, and Jax's Tail Twitches
God Made Me
If you invest in The Beginner's Gospel Story Bible, the God Made Me series is a natural next step because they feature the same illustrator! These books helpfully address important topics with gospel clarity. These books use creative stories to help children think about how the truths of God's Word relate to daily life. Typically, stories model adults helping children think through their life with the Word, resulting in greater clarity and gospel-centered thinking. They have books on racial diversity, special needs, gender, body image, heaven, worship, and more. In a complex world, these are great books to equip your kids with a right worldview from day one!
