From a young age, it's essential to cultivate a love for reading the Bible, and one way to do this is by using a great children's Bible! Even when they're young, when kids engage with a Bible, it should teach them something about God's heart and point them to the gospel of Christ. Here are three children's Bibles that I think do that, and I would recommend them to anyone!

The Beginner's Gospel Story Bible

This is my favorite children’s Bible! With 52 stories, it’s an excellent book to read at least once a week (but they're great to cycle through if you read nightly)! The character illustrations are perfect for young kids, making it easy to recognize Jesus as His story unfolds in the New Testament. It's comprehensive in its story selection, and each story is simple, faithful, and clear about the character of God. Stories also feature an ending question that you can use to help kids retain and discuss the content. This would be a great place to start if you’re looking for an excellent children’s Bible, especially with younger kids. Click here to learn more about The Beginner's Gospel Story Bible

The Biggest Story Bible Storybook

I love this new kids' Bible from Kevin DeYoung. The Biggest Story Bible Storybook is part of a larger series of books DeYoung has done with illustrator Don Clark. It features 104 stories that are simple, clear, and full of engaging illustrations. I love to read this with my oldest son at breakfast because it's a simple, fun, and engaging quick read. He often asks to see the pictures because they are bold and captivating, and I like to use the prayers listed in the book to help shape his view of prayer. Each story features a simple retelling that is artful, clear, and reflective of the gospel. DeYoung has done an excellent job thoughtfully connecting the dots between each story. Rather than being a collection of 104 stories from the Bible, DeYoung is demonstrating the biggest story of the gospel through these stories. This Bible does an excellent job teaching kids the truth about God and what He's done for us in Christ. This is an excellent option for young families and/or for kids who are reading on their own.

The Jesus Storybook Bible

This classic story Bible is an excellent resource for young families. This Bible is a work of art in every way. From Sally Lloyd-Jones’ storytelling to Jago’s illustrations, it emphasizes beauty with sweet words and sweet illustrations. The best part of this Bible is its intentional connection to Christ in every story. The tagline is "every story whispers his name," and you see this throughout. The stories feature artistic creativity while remaining faithful to the Bible, and they wonderfully demonstrate how each story points to Christ. This Bible will help your whole family see the Bible as a connected story through the lens of God's redemptive work in Christ! Click here to learn more about The Jesus Storybook Bible.
